Funding Conservation through Tourism
Sculpted
over thousands of years by nature and by Man, the Lake District
is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places in Britain. But
the ravages of time, the Lakeland weather and the many visitors
can all take their toll on this fragile environment.
At Milburn Grange we’re helping to care for this living landscape
by raising funds through our guests to help support woodland enhancement
work at Dufton Ghyll.
Your
donation will help to enhance public access on the 1500 metres of
footpaths that cross the woodland and conserve rare flora found
within the stream and river habitats.
Additional
work includes enhancing the exposures of St Bees sandstone within
the woodland and improving the tree structure by removing non-natives
and replacing them with native saplings such as oak.
How
you can help
On each Booking Confirmation/Invoice we add a voluntary £1
donation, per adult, towards this vital work. If the guest is not
happy to have this amount included then s/he is invited to tick
the ‘Opt out’ box and the sum is deducted from the bill.
Monies
raised by us are passed to The Tourism and Conservation Partnership
who manage the funds generated through this and similar schemes
with many other hotels, guest houses and self catering operators.
We
do hope that you will support us and play your part in safeguarding
the future of this magnificent landscape.
Please
use the donation form
to make your personal contribution to this woodland project.
